NFTs

NFTs have been around for a while now and have in a way been a thing ever since there were digital images. Since all an NFT really is a digital image of some kind that is on the blockchain. NFTs became first popular with Crypto kitties and Cyberpunks. They got another bit hype then an artist by name of Beeple sold his crypto art for millions. The main use case for NFTs is the proof of ownership since it’s on the blockchain and nothing can be altered on it.

I decided to have my hand on NFTs and learning about them in clubhouse rooms and doing other research and its a definitely an interesting field. There are many more things about NFTs than just digital art for your digital gallery. Some NFT platforms allow the creator to put royalties on the work for after the first sale, so every time it sells the creator gets a % of the transaction which is something that has never truly happened in the art/creative world, besides musical artists.

Since NFTs are proof of ownership there are many interesting things that can be done. Say you go to a music festival and they have these QR codes for the first 500 people to show up, and the code gives you a press photo of the festival not seen on social media. So you now have proof you were one of the first 500 people to go to this festival. With NFTs you can have a smart contract with would allow you to add something to the purchase of the NFT like the example above. Some artists offer a physical or printable version of the NFT.

This is just some basic info about the world of NFTs, there is of course a lot more to learn about them but this is a good start.

If you're curious about NFT marketplaces I would first look at opensea (here is my link)

There is sites like mintable, rarible, foundation, superrare just to name a few.

We will soon be living in a decentralized world.
